I Talked to God about you

I talked to God about you,

Told Him all that is true.

I told Him how, when you smile, I melt into morning dew—

That you feel like comfort wrapped in powder blue.

You smell like freedom and walk like victory.

You breathe like life and dance like destiny.

I told God about your laughing eyes and your singing laughter,

Your fiery passion and your brave spirit.

I told Him how your battles are fought for love,

And how your love is filled with battles.

I can’t refrain as your words pierce my soul,

And yet, somehow, they soothe my bane.

I told Him you sound like summer rain,

That you take away all my past pain.

I tell everyone, it’s true—

I see you.

I do.

In sparkling gleams, in between my dreams,

Never meekly, always before and after I breathe deeply.

I see you in the sanctuary of my mind,

And always when I am kind.

In my moments of quietude, providing me with latitude,

I see you clearly—reflecting in all that is reflective,

Reminding me that our love is perfected.

It’s true.

I talked to God about you.

I told Him all that is true.
